Currently, Kennametal is seeking a skilled Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Site Leader to join its team in Victoria, BC. As EHS Site Leader, you will be responsible for leading EHS compliance and strategy for our manufacturing location in Victoria. You will develop EHS site goals, and lead the site’s EHS strategy in conjunction with Corporate EHS and the site manager.
As you develop and implement systematic processes, and direct continuous improvement projects that will steadily improve EHS performance at the site, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Evaluate corporate Environmental Health and Safety strategies and interpret strategy to develop annual site plan and objectives;
Implement and drive sustainability of systems, programs, and processes to support compliance and management systems;
Monitor progress against EHS objectives and communications to site manager and employee population and develop and plan for continual improvement;
Ensure a high level of EHS knowledge and competency among all levels of employees;
Integration of EHS function with quality and lean manufacturing business partners; and
Work to reduce the overall EHS risk on site.
To qualify for the role, you will need 1-3 years of related experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. You will also have a 4-year post secondary degree in a related field. The successful candidate must also be knowledgeable in WorkSafe BC regulations.
We are searching for a self-starter with team leadership experience. You will also be a team player who is able to effectively relay important corporate policies down to the local level. You must be able to use your naturally diplomatic personality when it comes to gaining acceptance and cooperation from the employees in the facility.
It is important that you are accountable at all times for the continuous improvement of EHS performance.
As a true believer in the importance that EHS plays within an organization, you also enjoy maintaining expert knowledge of all regulatory compliance obligations and corporate requirements to ensure they are adequately addressed in the site plan.
You will use your logic and superior analysis skills to make sound, timely decisions to solve complex problems.
Understandably, our next (EHS) Site Leader will have excellent communication skills and will need to be a computer savvy individual (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Lastly, you must be accustomed to presenting EHS policies to staff and employees.
