Methanex currently has an opening for a talented Chief Inspector to join our team in Medicine Hat, AB.
As the Chief Inspector, you will assist in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Methanex Medicine Hat production facility by managing the site’s Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIMS).
Reporting to the Asset Integrity Manager, and providing technical support to the Production, Asset Integrity and Engineering site teams, your key accountabilities will include:

Managing the design registration, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation aspects of the pressure equipment consistent with best practices and regulatory requirments;
Monitoring and performing integrity assessment through the lifespan of equipment;
Writing, implementing and administering the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIMS), providing periodic reviews and revisions;
Managing integrity inspection activities during turnarounds and routine maintenance;
Reviewing and approving Quality Control Programs, Inspection, and Test Plans for Methanex contracts;
Ensuring appropriate permit certification, fabrication, installation, repair, alteration, inspection, and testing of pressure equipment;
Developing overpressure protection device and production optimization strategies;
Ensuring the quality, development, accuracy, and submission of all pressure equipment records and documentation;
Auditing repair and alteration plans and Quality Control packages with regard to material selection, weld procedure specifications, contractor selection and applications of asset integrity principles and RAGAGEP; and
Participating on the Site Reliability/Vulnerability Team & Global Static Equipment Team.

To apply, you will need 10 years of experience with the design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of pressure equipment and industrial piping.
Our next Chief Inspector will also have ONE of the following:

Diploma/Degree in Engineering;
First or Second Class Power Engineer Certification; or
Journeyperson Trade Certification in a related trade.

In addition, you will also need the following:

Alberta In-Service Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification; and
American Petroleum Institute (API 510) Pressure Vessel Inspector or National Board In-service Inspection Certification.

Further, any of the following qualifications would be considered an asset:

American Petroleum Institute (API) 570 Pressure Piping Inspector;
API 653 Tank Inspector Certification;
API 571 Damage Mechanisms;
API 580 Risk Base Inspection;
Canadian Standards Association (CSA) 178.2 Level II Welding Inspector with B31.3 Process Piping, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section VIII&IX Pressure Vessel Inspector, CSA Z662 Pipeline, and CSA 47.1 / W59 Structural Steel Inspection endorsements;
National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Certifications; or
Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certifications in non-destructive testing.

To be successful in the role, you must have excellent communication skills, both in verbal and written situations. You will have strong interpersonal and presentation skills accompanied by advanced organizational, time management, and planning abilities.
